Netflix isn’t the only streaming option, but it’s one of the best.
It has a massive library of TV shows and movies, including a lot of brand new originals and old favorites, but it doesn’t have a student discount.
If you’re a student trying to get by on a tight budget, there is unfortunately no Netflix student discount to help ease that burden.
Still, students looking to stretch their entertainment dollars do have a few options.
Netflix no longer offers a free trial period but there are several fantastic alternatives that have student discounts, and some free TV and movie streaming sites that can save you even more money.
Get Friends or Family to share You Their Profile or Split Costs :
Since Netflix stopped offering free trials, the best way to access Netflix on the cheap is to ask a parent or friend for a profile on their account.
You might even consider offering to pay the difference to upgrade to a plan that would let you stream without interrupting their viewing.
Consider teaming up with fellow students who want to share a new account so you can split-up the cost.
How to Share Your Netflix Account?
Netflix allows you to create up to five separate profiles, each of which can have their own watch lists and recommendations. This allows you to share your account without your friends or family clogging up your recommendations with shows you have no interest in.
Here’s how to set up a separate Netflix profile:
1. Navigate to Netflix.com.
2. Select your user icon in the upper right corner. If you see the Who’s watching? screen; skip down to Step 3.
3. Select Manage Profiles.

How to Get Netflix for Free with T-Mobile :
T-Mobile throws in a Netflix account at no extra charge, but the deal isn’t available for all customers.
If you opt for a plan that doesn’t require a credit check or a prepaid plan, the free Netflix offer is off the table.

- Add at least one additional line to your plan. The free Netflix offer is only available if you have at least two lines.

Note : T-Mobile may change the terms of service for Netflix at any time.
Netflix Alternatives With Student Discounts :
Netflix creates a lot of original content, so there is no direct replacement for the service.
You won’t find Netflix originals anywhere else. Netflix also has buys the rights to stream a lot of uber-popular television shows and movies they didn’t make themselves, but that’s always changing.
If you don’t have your heart set on a specific Netflix exclusive, some other streaming services offer student discounts.
These services have exclusive shows and movies, just like Netflix, and they all compete to offer the best selection possible. Here are the best alternatives to Netflix that offer student discounts :
- Amazon Prime Student: Amazon Prime’s student plan provides all of the regular Prime benefits at a significant discount. In addition to streaming TV shows and movies, you’ll also get music, free shipping, and more.
- YouTube Premium: This service removes ads from YouTube, gives you access to YouTube Premium shows and movies, and also includes access to YouTube Music.
- Hulu and Spotify Bundle: Hulu doesn’t have a student discount, but you can sign up for the Spotify student discount and get Hulu for free.
- Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access): This is the basic Paramount streaming service provided at a discount to students.
Note : Your eligibility for a student discount might depend on your school. This guide covers popular services like Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, YouTube, and Paramount+ (Formerly CBS All Access).
